Privacy Policy of Eggly
Effective date: 4 October 2026
Eggly is an egg timer for iPhone. This policy explains which personal data the app processes, why, and what rights you have. The short version: Eggly has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not send your data to us. Almost everything stays on your iPhone.

Types of Data processed
Eggly only processes the data below, and only for the purpose described.
Location (optional, only with your permission)
If you allow location access, Eggly reads your approximate location (accurate to about 100 metres) while the app is in use. It is used for two things:
Altitude. Water boils at a lower temperature higher up, so Eggly adjusts cooking times to your altitude. This happens on your iPhone. The last altitude reading is stored on your device so the app can start quickly.
Local weather. Eggly uses the outdoor temperature to estimate how warm a room-temperature egg is. For this, your location is first rounded to about 11 kilometres and then sent to Apple’s WeatherKit service. Apple returns the weather for that rounded area. We never receive your location.
You can use Eggly without location access by entering your altitude manually. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Eggly.
Settings and cooking statistics
Your preferences (such as egg size, starting temperature and sound settings) and your cooking statistics (eggs boiled, favorite doneness, day streak, and how many cooks you started this week) are stored only on your iPhone. They are never sent to us.
Notifications and Live Activities
If you allow notifications, Eggly schedules reminders (for example “your egg is ready” or a streak reminder) locally on your iPhone. The countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island also runs on your device. No notification content is sent to us.
Purchases (Eggly Pro)
Eggly Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, or payment details. To unlock Pro, the app checks a purchase receipt that Apple signs and delivers to your device. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.
Support emails
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We only use this to answer you.
Crash reports and diagnostics from Apple
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymised crash reports and basic usage statistics about Eggly. You can change this in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Mode and place of processing the Data
Most processing happens on your iPhone. Data leaves your device only in these cases:
the rounded location sent to Apple WeatherKit for the local temperature
purchases processed by Apple
emails you send us
diagnostics Apple shares with us if you have opted in
Apple may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Apple Inc. participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and transfers are covered by the safeguards described in Apple’s privacy policy.
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we receive (support emails).
Cookies and tracking
Eggly does not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or any tracking technology. It does not track you across other apps or websites, so it never shows Apple’s “Allow tracking” prompt.
Legal basis of processing
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on:
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for location access and notifications. You give it through the iOS permission prompts and can withdraw it at any time in iOS Settings.
Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) for unlocking Eggly Pro after a purchase.
Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for answering your support emails and for understanding crash reports so we can fix problems.
Retention
Data on your iPhone stays there until you delete Eggly, which removes it.
Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you, and deleted at the latest 24 months after the conversation ends.
Crash reports are kept by Apple according to Apple’s own retention rules.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
access the personal data we hold about you
correct inaccurate data
erase your data
restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests
data portability
withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before
lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), and you may also contact the authority in your own EU country.
Because Eggly keeps almost everything on your device, in practice the only personal data we hold about you is any email you have sent us.
How to exercise these rights
Email us at alexeduard.michaelis@gmail.com. We will reply within one month. To delete everything Eggly stored on your iPhone, simply delete the app.
Children
Eggly is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change significantly affects how your data is handled, we will point it out in the app’s release notes.
